1964 – The Detours play the Glenlyn Ballroom in Forest Hill, opening for the Hollies
1967 – “Happy Jack” appears on Sweden’s Kvällstoppen sales chart where it will peak at #8
1968 – The Australian tour flies to Essendon Airport in Melbourne, Victoria. A press conference gathers in the V.I.P lounge. Reporters badger the two groups demanding to know what drugs they had smuggled into the country and what they were high on now. When one reporter gets in Pete’s face, Pete punches him.
1969 – The Who play the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire
1970 – The Who play in Copenhagen at Det Kunglige Teater. They had been turned down for hotel reservations at the Copenhagen Inn because of that establishment’s policy against “long-haired pop groups.” The Dutch Royal family does not have a problem with The Who’s hair as they attend that night’s show. Due to the cold weather Pete announces their opera as “Tommy On Ice!”
1970 – Melody Maker prints the article: “Who in colour tv film.” It says The Who are the subject of a documentary being shot for European TV featuring concerts and behind-the-scenes footage.
1971 – Pete and Keith are drinking at the Speakeasy when Frank Zappa asks them if they want to be in his new video movie 200 Motels, then shooting at Pinewood Studios in London. Pete begs off, being too busy with Lifehouse, but Keith takes up his offer.
1974 – John Entwistle and his band The Ox continue their tour of the United Kingdom playing Edinburgh University in Scotland on the 10th, Leeds University on the 11th, Plymouth Guildhall on the 14th Exeter University on the 15th, Brunel University in Uxbridge on the 17th, Liverpool University on the 22nd, Leicester on the 23rd, the University of East Anglia in Norwich in the 24th and Leicester University on the 25th
1975 – John Entwistle and his band play the University of East Anglia in Norwich
1976 – The Who finally release “Squeeze Box” backed with “Success Story” in Britain. Their first single in ten years not released on Track Records reaches #10 in the U.K. charts.
1977 – Eric Clapton records a guitar overdub for Roger’s One of the Boys solo LP. The results aren’t quite good enough to use, however, after Eric gets soused on Roger’s gift of a barrel of Fuller’s Superstrong Ale.
1980 – Chet Flippo writes a lengthy report on December’s Cincinnati tragedy for Rolling Stone . He reveals that various citizens and city officials had warned that something like this was going to happen at Riverfront Coliseum as early as three years before. In another article, promoter Larry Magid calls the tragedy a “symptom of society” that could happen again

2005 – The New Yorker carries a cartoon captioned “Pete Townshend Vineyards”
2007 – Pete reveals on his website that he and Roger had a business meeting prior to the South Bank Awards show and decided on a European tour for May followed by a winter tour of Japan, Australia and Hawaii. He also discusses a recent French author’s view that soon all music will be available for downloading for free: “iTunes are getting away with murder, and the French want to stop them. Oh! I warned you all back in 1986 and no one listened.”
2012 – “Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan” is released. It includes a cover of “Corrina, Corrina” by Pete Townshend.

2012 – It is announced that Pete has sold his interest in his entire song catalog to the Spirit Music Group. You can read about it here
2013 – Roger Daltrey joins with Steven Tyler to perform at the Raise Your Voice benefit in Los Angeles. The event is in honor of Dr. Steven Zeitels whose techniques gave new life to both singers’ voices.
